No Smoking Day: What happens to your body when you give up cigarettes?
The British Heart Foundation is hoping to encourage people to quit smoking by making them aware of the realities of the physical effects smoking has on a smoker. The foundation hopes that by understanding how giving up cigarettes directly affects the body – for the better and as soon as 20 minutes after the last puff – will help smokers quit smoking. To mark No Smoking Day, the foundation explained the gains of quitting smoking over a period between 20 minutes and within 15 years of quitting.
